Kurakhove has come almost completely under Russian control, although more work is still to be done to clear the outskirts. The Russian Armed Forces have seized nearly the whole bank of the Sukhi Yaly River, taking a number of settlements.
The offensive operation by Russians in the Kurakhove area, which has been unfolding over the past few weeks, is reaching its final stage. Thanks to active actions at key sector of the front, units of the Russian Armed Forces (RAF) have practically completed the encirclement of the Ukrainian group of forces holding the defenses in this strategically important area.
The pincers are closing in from the north and south, the city falls into operational encirclement. The surviving Ukrainian troops are withdrawing from the residential sector to the industrial zone of Kurakhove, and to the thermal power plant. The Russian army is also approaching it, while some Ukrainian units still remain in the city. The Russians are bypassing them and gradually pulling up the flanks.
The situation changed drastically after the closure of the “pocket” along the Sukhi Yaly River. The destruction of resistance on most of the left bank allowed Russian forces to seize control of the Ukrainian army’s main communications in this area. The breakthrough of the Ukrainian defenses near Zelenovka paved the way to the southern approaches to Constantinople and Ulakly, thus posing a threat of encirclement from several directions at once.
To isolate the area from the north, Russian aviation struck the bridge between Andreevka and Constantinople, depriving Ukrainian units of a key supply route.
Several FAB-500 high-explosive air-dropped bombs with glide range extension kit struck a reinforced concrete bridge over the Volchya River connecting Constantinople and Andreevka in the Kurakhove direction. As a result of the strike, the bridge was destroyed and traffic was stopped
Even earlier, the RAF’s 114th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade cut another possible escape route through Starye Terny. Thus, Russians have managed to take under fire control a significant part of the highway linking these settlements and are actively advancing in the directions of Razliv and Otradnoye, which provides protection for their left flank.
At the moment, Russian forces are consolidating their positions on the approaches to Constantinople and Ulakly, where the encirclement ring is likely to be closed. This tactical success poses a threat to the entire Ukrainian group of forces defending near Kurakhove, including positions in Yantarnoye, fields south of the city, and Dachnoye. The Ukrainian army’s chances of an organized withdrawal are slim. The Ukrainian units are trapped in the “closing pocket” and can no longer count on a safe escape.

In this direction, the Russian side is intensely using artillery and aviation to suppress resistance points. The Ukrainian army is trying to organize counterattacks, evacuate armor and vehicles, but the strikes on transport infrastructure and the density of fire make these efforts ineffective.

To sum up, the strategic value of Kurakhove is determined by its proximity to major logistical hubs and transport routes. The successful accomplishment of the operation here could significantly affect the overall course of hostilities, depriving the Ukrainian forces of a stronghold and creating prerequisites for a further Russian offensive on neighboring areas.
