The Russian military has inflicted more losses on Kiev forces while repelling the ongoing attack on the Kursk region in Russia’s southwest.
In its August 10 briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Sever Group of Forces, newly-deployed reserves and recent strikes thwarted more Ukrainian attempts to advance in Kursk near the settlements of Ivashkovskoye, Malaya Loknya and Olgovka over the past 24 hours.
“Fire damage was inflicted on the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] manpower and hardware near Nikolayevo-Daryino, Gusevo, Lyubimovka, Zeleniy Shliyakh and Sverdlikovo,” the ministry said.
“Aviation and missile troops delivered strikes at the enemy’s reserves on the territory of Sumy region,” it added.
Up to 15 Ukrainian troops were also eliminated as a result of a strike by a missile equipped with a thermobaric warhead at a temporary deployment area of foreign mercenaries on the southern outskirts of Sudzha, according to the ministry.
Over the past 24, Ukrainian losses amounted to up to 175 troops and 36 units of hardware, including ten tanks, three armored personnel carriers, two infantry fighting vehicles, 21 armored fighting vehicles, one motor vehicle, three field artillery guns and one BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system [MLRS].
“Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the AFU losses amounted to up to 1,120 Ukrainian troops, 140 units of hardware, including 22 tanks, 20 armored personnel carriers, eight infantry fighting vehicles, 88 armored fighting vehicles, 13 motor vehicles, two Buk-M1 self-propelled SAM systems, one BM-21 Grad MLRS combat vehicle, and six field artillery guns,” the ministry said, noting that the operation to neutralize Ukrainian formations in Kursk was “in progress.”
The ministry also released video footage showing recent airstrikes on Kiev forces in Kursk as well as some of the ongoing clashes in the region.
The Kiev regime launched its surprise attack in Kursk early on August 6, relying mainly on weapons made by the United States and other Western allies. This indicates that the attack was orchestrated with direct help from NATO.
While Kiev forces managed to occupy several settlements in Kursk, the cost being paid just to maintain a presence in the region is very heavy.
