On July 26 and 27, Kiev forces sustained more human and material losses while attempting to advance in several directions.
In the Kupyansk direction, Su-34 fighter bombers of the Russian Zapad Group of Forces carried out two airstrikes on positions and gatherings of Ukraine’s 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade in the area of Volchiy. The group’s Ka-52 and Mi-35 attack helicopters and Su-25 attack aircraft also carried out 11 airstrikes against gatherings of the 14 Separate Mechanized Brigade and territorial defense units.
Moreover, the artillery of the group destroyed a mortar in Berestovoye and an Americanmade AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar close to Zapadnoye.
Meanwhile, in the Lisichansk, Aleksandro-Kalinovsk and Soledaro-Artyomovsk directions, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled several attacks by Kiev forces. The group’s artillery also destroyed an infantry fighting vehicle near Ivanodaryevka.
In addition, two Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzers were destroyed close to Dyleevka and Seversk and an American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer was destroyed in Krasnogorovka. A D-30 and D-20 towed howitzers and a mortar were also destroyed near Karlovka, Umanskoe and Avdeevka.
Moreover, the group’s attack helicopters hit targets close to Kleshcheevka and Andreevka. Attack aircraft also carried out missile and bomb strikes on targets in the areas of Kurdyumovka, Bogdanovka, Avdeevka and Mayorsk.
In the Svatovsky and Krasnolimansky directions, Su-34 fighter bombers of the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces targeted a command center, an observation post and two ammunition depots of Kiev forces near Krasny Liman, Novolyubovka, Terny and Torskoe with precision-guided missiles and bombs.
The group’s forces also repelled nine attacks by Kiev forces, neutralizing two infantry fighting vehicles, four armored vehicles, five pickup trucks, a D-30 towed howitzer, three mortars and more than 150 troops. Eight service members of the Ukrainian National Guard also surrendered to the group.
In addition, air and artillery strikes by the group targeted the 25th Airborne Brigade, 21st, 42nd, 63rd and 67th mechanized brigades of Kiev forces near Torsky and Chervonopopovsky as well as in the Serebryansky forestry.
Meanwhile, Russian news sources shared videos showing the destruction of several Ukrainian vehicles, including a German-made Leopard 2 tank and several American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, by artillery fire, Lancet loitering munitions and FPV suicide drones in the direction of Zaporozhye.
Despite sustained heavy losses and failing to make any meaningful gains, Kiev forces appear to be escalating their attacks. The Ukrainian counteroffensive, which began more than seven weeks ago, could go on for several more weeks, or even months.
