Jordan Pressures FSA To Hand Over Nasib Border Crossing To Syrian Government

Nasib border crossing

The Free Syrian Army Groups (FSA) in southern Syria has agreed to hand over the Nasib border crossing on the Syrian-Jordanian border to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Russian RIA Novosti news agency reported on September 20.

According to the report, the FSA will hand over the crossing if the Syrian government agreed to release 100 prisoners of war. the Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides informed Damascus of the FSA demand, according to a source of RIA Novosti.

The report claimed that the FSA agreed to hand over Nasib border crossing after great pressure from Jordan, the main backer of the FSA in southern Syria.

Likely, the Jordanian government is interested in the financial benefit of the border crossing that use to make 800 million USD a year before it was closed back in 2015 when the al-Nusra Front – now known as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) – captured it.

It’s very unlikely that HTS will allow such a deal to happen especially that it has great influence over all the FSA groups in southern Syria tat mainly operate under its command.

The Jordanian pressure comes after the FSA has failed to make any progress in its operation against the ISIS-affiliated Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Waleed in the western Daraa countryside. On September 19, Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Waleed even attacked the FSA and killed 13 FSA fighters.

Assad should build a wall around Jordan and make Jordanians pay for it.
Jordan was always Anti-Syria.
The only reason Jordan is doing this now is because Jordan knows it lost and Assad is winning so it’s trying to negotiate with the Syrian government now.
Syria should never forget the countries that betrayed it.
All the photos, videos, articles, etc of dead children/old people, dead women, dead men, beheading of small children, etc are because of countries like Jordan who were Anti-Syria.
Assad tried his very best to save his people and minimize the casualties, but he wasn’t all that successful since more than half of the world was Anti-Syria.
If it weren’t for Assad, Syria would have turned into a graveyard like Iraq, but fortunately Assad saved his country and his people.
Leaders like Assad are hard to come by. His loyalty for his people and his love for his country is quite tremendous. Assad did not forsake his country during it’s most crucial time because doing so would be betraying the countless Syrians who elected him
Assad himself stated in an interview that:-
“I am not a Western puppet. I live in Syria, I die in Syria”

Well-said. It’s been interesting to read about the Jordanian change of heart. The king tries to portray himself as independent and not an American lackey, but all the evidence that matters points to the latter. All the war criminals involved in destroying Syria deserve a fate that ISIS could supply.

The reason is exposed on the article, it is about money. Syria will not be a military threat to anyone in the ME for at least a whole generation.

Syria has lived through a complete catastrophe, and just to have a Syria with an active economy will take years. Assad is no threat to Jordan, and when/If Syria recuperates to be strong enough to be, then Assad won’t be in power.

If it were not for Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the RuAF, Assad would have been gone by now.

Two – faced bloody jordanians!

SOF

The 100 POWs will return to the fight. No deal. Kill all who stand against the legitimate Syrian government.

Bob

Even better fight FSA all way across border into Jordan itself – lets’ see much how Jordanian leadership appreciates armed salafists and criminal-syndicate militias roaming around on their side of the border!

Brother Ma

Beautifully said Bob.That king abdullah needs a swift kick in his shit- eating grinning face.

Negotiations or not still SAA will take over the border crossing forcefully.

Trustin Judeau

The fall of this important crossing was very unfortunate event . It happened only because SAA was pressured on many fronts – you had Eastern Homs front, Idlib front and Aleppo front . The border corssing must be captured whether by deal or by force
