Early on July 26, the Syrian army further advanced south of the Mallah Farms, securing Castello Complex and expanding the zone of control along the strategic Castello Highway. Strategically, this move lifts the full siege on the militant-controlled areas of Aleppo city.

We remind, on July 25, the Syrian army successfully advanced in the Layramoun industrial area of Aleppo city, liberating over dozen buildings there and reaching the strategic Al Barrad crossroad.

With the phisically cutted off Castello Highway, the militant forces have the only way to supply their allies inside the city: to move through the Castello Highway between Castello Complex and Layramoun industrial area under heavy artillery fire of the Syrian army. Furthermore, the supplies are limited because of inability to provide successfully logistics without the direct road heading to the militant-controlled areas of Aleppo city.

The ongoing battle for Aleppo errupted on July 7 when the Syrian army set a fire control of the only supply line (Castello Highway) heading to the militant-held areas of Aleppo city.

Aleppo is going to be under the complete control of the SAA & NDF and loyalist forces soon. I’m wondering what the YPG ends up doing with Sheikh Maqsud district. They’re not going to be able to connect it with the rest of Rojava, not when the SAA is blocking them from linking the two up.
