On Friday, Jaish al-Islam announced in an official statement that it carried out a security operation in Abtaa town in the northern Daraa countryside.
According to the statement, the goal of the operation was to capture criminals, ISIS cells members and agents of the Syrian intelligence.
Both of Jund al-Malahm and Jaish al-Thawrah Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups participated in the operation alongside Jaish al-Islam. According to Syrian opposition sources, over 75 persons were arrested.
Local sources from Abtaa town claimed that Jaish al-Islam fighters arrested civilian family members of wanted personals after they didn’t find them. According to the sources Jiahs al-Islam fighter showed a hostile behavior and even looted some houses during the operation.
The Jaish al-Islam operation came after a series of attacks on FSA commanders in Daraa governorate.
On Thursday, Ali Mohamad al-Abed, a field commander of Shaba Al-Sunnah FSA was assassinated by unknown gunmen near al-Musayfirah town in the eastern Daraa countryside.
While many Syrian opposition activists accuse the Syrian intelligence and ISIS of the assassinations, other accuse the US-led Military Operation Center (MOC) in Jordan.
IS affiliates are leaving al-Baghdadi.
