Late on November 8, a series of Israeli strikes hit military positions in Syria’s southern region, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
“at approximately 10:50 p.m. [local time, 7:50 p.m. GMT], the Israeli adversary carried out an aerial assault from Lebanon’s Baalbek, delivering strikes on several military facilities in southern regions [of Syria],” a Syrian military official said in a statement to the state-run news agency.
The Israeli strikes resulted in “some material damage” only, the military official added, without providing any further details.
Meanwhile, the pro-government Sham FM radio station said that the strikes hit military positions in the outskirts of the capital, Damascus, as well as in the southern governorate of al-Suwayda. Radar stations were targeted, according to unverified claims by some pro-opposition activists.
Israel has escalated its attacks on Syria significantly since the outbreak of the war in the Palestinian Gaza Strip on October 7.
Strikes attributed to Israel have hit Aleppo and Damascus airports several times in the past month. In addition, Israel said it had responded with artillery fire to a number of indirect fire attacks from southern Syria that targeted the occupied Golan Heights.
The Israeli attack on November 8 considered with strikes by the United States against a position linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the eastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor. Washington said that the strikes were carried out in response to recent attacks on its troops in Syria and neighboring Iraq.
Syria has largely refrained from responding to Israel’s repeated attacks over the past decade in an attempt to avoid a dangerous military confrontation that could jeopardize its war on terrorism and cause a humanitarian disaster.
is it time to declare syria as part of greater israel at this point? it might as well be.
time for whom?
“……syria has….refrained from responding to israel’s repeated attacks……in an attempt to avoid a dangerous military confrontation…..”. damn, so free hits for israel. i guess that will end only when the ukraine war ends, when russia can send resources to syria.
there are russian resources in syria. i can assure you that these crappy israeli jets can be shot down by russian anti air but alas.
meanwhile us uses ukraine as proxy to attack donbas and even inside russian territory. syria should have been allowed full autonomy of s300. in fact they should have s-400 missiles with a-50 awacs to practice shooting down advanced model f-16 and even f-35. russia could use the experience too
no one wants world war 3. america is like spoiled, petulant child with nuclear weapon so is israel. but everyone has a limit to their patience, danger of this escalation is actually closer than you think as ukraine becomes more and more belligerent and resorts to terrorism against russian and dpr citizens. this scenario is actually very much on the table. thanks for reading
poor syria…being a russian “ally”, where the khazar abomination is concerned, is a losing game. does putin not understand that the anglozionazi empire of s#it stretches from the sewer in occupied palestine to the sewer that is rump ukraine with the washing town sewer in the middle. tolerating the evil regime in occupied palestine to kill your “allies” with impunity is a fool’s game, mr putin.
hope prc gets defensive weapons to iran, always good to see u.s – zionist plans thwarted.
once again thank you putin!
israel and its aipac puppets are itching to finally take out assad and break up syria. good thing syria is showing restraint. it will be hezbollah who will eventually open up big on isreal
