The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced on May 2 that it had launched more strikes against targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Israeli fighter jets targeted a number of Hezbollah positions in the town of Shebaa overnight, the IDF said in a brief statement.

In another strike, the IDF said that surveillance soldiers of the 869th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit spotted a Hezbollah fighter at one of the group’s sites in the town of Markaba. A short while after the identification, a fighter jet struck the building, according to the IDF.

Hezbollah didn’t announce any losses after the Israeli strikes. There were also no reports of civilian casualties in Lebanese media.

The strikes didn’t deter Hezbollah who announced two attacks against IDF border sites during the day. In separate statements, the group said its fighters shelled the Zabdin site with artillery and targeted the site of al-Samaqa using “suitable weapons”. Hebrew media didn’t report any casualties.

The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah said.

The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza last October, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.

So far, the clashes have resulted in nine civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 11 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 272 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 70 civilians.
