Two fighters and a civilian first responder were killed after a series of Israeli strikes that targeted southern Lebanon on May 10.

In a statement, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that the air force targeted two Hezbollah fighters in the town of Yaroun.

The pair were spotted carrying weapons by troops of the 869th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit close to a building known to be used by the group, according to the IDF, which noted that the building was then quickly attacked by fighter jets.

Israeli fighter jets carried out additional airstrikes and against other sites of Hezbollah in the towns of Kafr Kila and Blida during the day, the IDF added.

After the strikes, Hezbollah mourned one of its fighters. The al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, also mourned a fighter.

In addition, the Islamic Message Scouts Association, which is linked to the Hezbollah-allied Amal Movement, announced that one of its civilian first responders was killed in southern Lebanon in one of the strikes carried out by the IDF.

Separately, Hezbollah said that a second fighter died of wounds he sustained previously, without providing any further details.

The intense Israeli strikes didn’t stop Hezbollah. In three separate statements, the group announced that its fighters shelled military vehicles in the Al-Malikiyah site with artillery, targeted newly-installed surveillance systems in the Misgav Am site with “suitable weapons” and fired rockets at the Samaqa site.

The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted in its statements.

The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza last October, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.

So far, the border clashes have resulted in nine civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 14 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 279 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 70 civilians.
