Israel assassinated early on May 7 a commander of the Palestinian Hamas Movement near the city of Sidon in southern Lebanon.

In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had carried out a strike targeting Khaled Ahmad al-Ahmad, Hamas’ chief of operations in the western sector of Lebanon.

Ahmad had advanced numerous attacks on Israeli civilians and troops during the war in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, the military said, claiming that the commander recently “worked to transfer weapons and to carry out terror attacks against the State of Israel.”

The strike was carried out because “Ahmad’s activities posed a threat to the State of Israel and its citizens,” the military added.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that an “enemy drone” hit a car in the Sidon’s Villas neighborhood, near the Imam Ali Mosque.

Hamas, which rules Gaza and maintains a strong presence in Lebanon, late confirmed al-Ahmad’s death, describing him a field commander.

The military said in a statement that the commander, Adnan Harb, headed the logistics array in Hezbollah’s Badr regional division. The regional unit is tasked with the area north of the Litani River. It claimed that Harb, as part of his role, worked to restore the group’s fighting capabilities, as well as restore infrastructure in areas south of the river, which lies 30-40 kilometers away from the border of Israel.

“The terrorist worked to transfer weapons within Lebanese territory between the various units in the organization. His actions constituted a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said.

Hezbollah accepted a ceasefire proposed by the United States last November following a costly confrontation with the IDF. The confrontation broke out more than a year earlier as a result of the Israeli war on the group’s ally, the Hamas Movement, in the Gaza Strip.

The ceasefire was supposed to end all clashes on the Israeli-Lebanese border by February 18. However, the Israeli military continues to launch strikes against Hezbollah and its allies, It also maintains troops at five strategic points in southern Lebanon.

More than 140 members of Hezbollah and its allies have been killed by the IDF since the start of the ceasefire. Still, the group refuses to respond in order to deny Israel a pretext to restart its war on Lebanon.

but when has the idf ever told the truth ? how many hell fire missiles did israel use on oct 7th ?

yes: killing their own people means nothing to power hungry murderers like bibi. they’ve done it before in history and they will do it again and again. that is: until the judgment. then they will know how unhappiness, and fear that they put others through, really feels.

well, of course, in practical terms the zionist entity is still conducting its war on lebanon; hezbollah having effectively capitulated, zionist operations are inevitably of a much lower intensity. were hezbollah to confront any domestic lebanese faction, israel would probably increase attacks to weaken it further.
