On July 30, ISIS cells in the northern Iraqi province of Saladin targeted the Baiji oil refinery with a Grad 122 mm rocket.

The terrorist group’s news agency, Amaq, shared several photos of the attack on the same day. The photos show masked terrorists launching the rocket from an abandoned village.

An Iraqi security source confirmed to the Anadolu Agency that the North Refineries Company in Saladin was targeted with a rocket. According to the unnamed source, the attack didn’t result in any causalities or material losses.

“Security forces opened an urgent investigation into the accident to find the rocket launch site and the side behind it,” the source said.

The North Refineries Company operates a number of oil refineries, the biggest of which is Baiji. The refinery processes 100,000 barrels of oil a day.

This was the second such attack by ISIS this month. On July 8, the terrorists fired a rocket at al-Sayniyah oil refinery in Saladin. No losses were reported as a result of the attack.

ISIS operations in Saladin are getting bolder. On July 30, six people were killed in the southern part of the province when terrorists of the group attacked a funeral. This horrendous attack highlights the threat posed by the terrorist group’s cells.
