ISIS SVBIED Hits Libya’s Ajdabiya. Casualties Reported (Photos)

On March 29, a suicide vehicle borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) blew up at a checkpoint of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in the eastern entrance of the Ajdabiya district in northern Libya, according to the UAE-based al-Arabiya TV.

A source in the Ajdabiya hospital revealed to al-Arabiya that eight LNA soldiers and civilians had been killed and eight others had been injured in the VBIED attack.

The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq announced on March 30 that the terrorist organization had been behind the SVBIED attack in the Ajdabiya district. Amaq claimed that nineteen soldiers of the LNA had been killed or injured in the attack.

This was the second attack of ISIS on Ajdabiya in March. On March 9, an ISIS SVBIED targeted a checkpoint of the LNA in the Bauabat al-Steen area of Ajdabiya killing two civilians and a soldier of the LNA.

Commenting on the attack, commander of the security room in the Ajdabiya district Brigadier Fawzi al-Mansouri told Africa Gate News outlet that the attacks on Ajdabiya “are aimed at capturing the oil crescent, and an attempt to attack Benghazi city.”

The Ajdabiya district is a vital part of the Libyan oil crescent as it hosts the main oil refinery plants along with a large oil storage facility. This explains the ISIS interest in the area.

Can i rephrase, ‘this explains the US interest in the area’.

Smaug

No, you can’t. That make zero sense and has zero evidence. Get back in school.
