On November 16, a suicide bomber of ISIS attacked a meeting of the Jamiat-e-Islami party in the Afghan capital, Kabul city, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq. The ISIS-linked news agency claimed that 60 Afghan policemen and members of Jamiat-e-Islami were killed in the attack.

However, an Afghan security source revealed that the ISIS suicide bomber was not able to enter the restaurant where the meeting was held and blew himself up along people outside it, according to the Afghan Tolo TV. The source added that only 8 Afghan policemen and 10 civilians were killed in the attack.

Amaq also claimed that the meeting was attended Atta Muhammad Nur, governor of the northern province of Balkh, and a one of the famous party leaders.

The Afghan source denied that Nur was at the meeting in Kabul, but confirmed that other high ranking officials of Jamiat-e-Islami were at the meeting.

This was the second attack this year against Jamiat-e-Islami. On June 3, seven people were killed and more than 119 were injured in three separate explosions at a high-profile funeral that was attended by Jamiat-e-Islami party leader Salahuddin Rabbani, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.

The number of attacks in Kabul city during 2017 shows that the Afghan capital is still far away from being fully secure.

They count dead people as the ones having eternal peace, so they didn’t bring peace to all, yet.
