On Thursday, the ISIS-linked news agency, Amaq announced that ISIS recaptured al-Muqlah, al-Atshanah, Salem al-Hamad, al-Bu Hamad, Zor Shumr, al-Huwijah and Ghanem al-Ali villages in the southern Raqqa countryside.
Amaq also claimed that 42 Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers were killed during the ISIS attack.
Furthermore, Amaq claimed that 58 more SAA were killed in a VBIED attack on a gathering of SAA soldiers near Ghanim al-Ali village.
Earlier this month, the SAA re-deployed many units of the Tiger Forces and Tribal Forces from the southern Raqqa countryside to boost its attack in the eastern Hama countryside after the forces there failed to make any real gains.
After clearing the east Hama and east Homs pockets the SAA will be able again to focus on the southern Raqqa countryside.
