On October 16, ISIS terrorists made another step en route to a total collapse in the city of Deir Ezzor. According to pro-government sources, the Syrian Arab army (SAA) and its allies made a notable gains against ISIS terrorists inside the city liberating Kenamat, Khassarat and the oild airport area.
If these reports are true, the SAA divided the ISIS-held area in the northern part of Deir Ezzor into two separate parts. This is a common move for government troops assisted by Russian forces. It has been repeatedly implemented in many clashes with terrorists across Syria.
Now, the SAA will likely focus on ISIS terrorists blocked in the Industrial Centre, al-Sina and Saqr Island in the eastern part of the pocket. When this area is liberated, government forces will be able to liberate the rest of the city.
Government troops are advancing against ISIS on the eastern bank of the Euphrates, north of Deir Ezzor city:
