The amount of flamethrower systems that are in Syria is not yet known.

TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” is considered a terrible modern weapon, effectively destroying the enemy’s manpower, firing positions and disables armored machinery.

The heavy flamethrower system fires with unguided reactive thermobaric shells. The ammunition lets out a cloud of flammable gas which then explodes, and forces all the oxygen in that cloud to react.  After instantly detonating, the pressure sharply rises then sharply falls, dropping below 160 mmHg.

Even if the enemy manages to survive the explosion, the drop in pressure guarantees the coming of his immediate death from rupture of his internal organs.  TOS “Solntsepyok” has high precision volley firing, which is due to the launcher’s direct aim and automated targeting, which can be at a distance of up to 6 km.

“Solntsepyok” has been a part of the armed forces of nuclear, chemical and biological defenses of the Russian Army since April 2001.

The specialization TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” defeats the enemy’s manpower of open and closed firing positions in different types of offensive and defensive battle, disabling armored machinery.
