The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), an umbrella group of Iranian-backed armed factions, launched eight drone and missile attacks against Israel within 24 hours.

On May 9, the IRI announced in separate statements that it had attacked Ashkelon oil port with an Arqab cruise missile and launched drones at Nevatim air base, a “vital target” in Eilat city, Yafalet base, Leviathan naval gas rig and Ovda air base. Video footage showing the attacks on Ashkelon and Nevatim were released.

The group said in two more statements released early on May 10 that it attacked another “vital target” and a military site in Eilat with drones.

The attacks were carried out in response to Israel’s “massacres” against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, according to the group’s statements.

Hebrew media didn’t report any warnings or interceptions in Israel due to attacks from Iraq. Nevertheless, this does not mean that the attacks failed as the Israeli military has the power to censor all news related to attacks and security incidents in the country.

It’s worth noting that the IRI launched the last wave of attacks just a few hours after strikes attributed to Israel hit a cultural center and training camp of the Iraqi Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba armed faction close to the Shiite town of Set Zaynab in the southern outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, which is said to be a key faction of the IRI, condemned the strikes and vowed to respond against Israel.

The IRI began launching attacks against Israel as well as against United States forces in Iraq and neighboring Syria on October 17 in response to the war on Gaza -which broke out just ten days earlier- and Washington’s unwavering support for it.

Last February, the group suspended attacks against U.S. forces after the death of three American troops in a drone strike on a base in Jordan, reportedly upon a request from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. However, it escalated attacks against Israel starting from March.

that supposed u.s. base in “jordan” where the 3 soldiers were killed is actually located in syria and is there illegally. the americans just never stop lying about what they are doing in the middle east. iraq never hit anything in jordan.
