Iraqi Prime Minister Visits Iraqi Forces Advancing In Western Mosul

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abbadi visited Iraqi Army troops in western Mosul and the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units deployed in the western Mosul countryside. He checked the situation on the frontlines with ISIS inside and around Mosul and got a brief about ongoing combat operations.

Iraqi Army units are advancing rapidly in the strategic Al-Tanak district to western Mosul city, where they have destroyed fortifications of ISIS terrorists and taken control of over 50% of the district.

The Iraqi Federal Police continued its operations in the strategic Old Mosul area, where it captured a mortar factory of ISIS.

From its side, ISIS claimed that its militants had killed a group of Iraqi Federal Police servicemen as a result of an attack in the Al-Moushahde area. ISIS also attacked Iraqi SWAT forces in the Al-Thawra district allegedly killing 10 SWAT servicemen.

According to the Iraqi government media, Iraqi forces are preparing to capture the Zinjili district after taking control of the Al-Thawra district. If the Iraqi forces take control of Znjili, they will be abme to impose a successfull siege on ISIS militants in the Old Mosul. This will mean a collapse of ISIS in the entire western part of Mosul.

The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq released photos showing a shellling of PMU site near the Al-Makhazen bridge in the province of Salah al-Din with a B-10 recoilless rifle.
