Iraqi Forces Liberate Strategic Town South of Mosul from ISIS

On August 23, the Iraqi Army’s 9th, 15th and 16th Divisions and the Iraqi Special Operations Forces, supported by the US-led coalition air power advanced on the strategic ISIS-controlled town of al-Qiyyarah, located south of Mosul in the province of Nineveh. After few hours of intense fightints the Iraqi forces liberated al-Qiyyarah from the terrorists.

Now, the Iraqi forces are in about 60 kilometers from the last ISIS major stronghold in Iraq, Mosul. Iraqi authorities say that they expect to liberate Mosul from ISIS by the end of the year.
