On Thursday, the Iraqi Army, backed up by the US-led coalition, liberated Al-Rifai district from ISIS in the western part of the city of Mosul. The Iraqi Army also launched on the district of Al-Najjar that separates the Hawi al-Kanisah area and the 17 Tamoz district from the Old Mosul area.
As for now government forces seized more than 50% of the Hawi al-Kanisah area and 30% of the 17 Tamoz district, and imposed full control over the Al-Warshan district. Furthermore, the Iraqi Army managed to capture several women working for ISIS in the 17 Tamoz district, and released two Yazidi girls.
The Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) managed to temporarily evacuate 200 families from the village of Masaydah south of the town of Qayrawan. The PMU surrounded the town the northern, southern and eastern directions after capturing the villages of Al-Amdina, Ain Ghazal, Tal Banat and Karka.
The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq published a video showing the destruction of two Humvee vehicles of the Iraqi Army with ATGMs at Tal Banat south of Tal Afar.
It was also reported that ISIS started burning all its documents in the Old Mosul area of Mosul few days ago. ISIS was also burning large amounts of fuel to blind US-led coalition warplanes and UAVs.
