Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on July 24 that it had struck several United States military targets in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq’s Kurdistan Region during the 27th wave of “Operation Nasr-2.”
In a statement, the IRGC said the attack was carried out under the code name “Ya Aba Saleh al-Mahdi, Adrikni.” It said its forces struck three warehouses used for storing ammunition and military equipment at Al Adairi in Kuwait, setting them on fire and destroying them.
The Corps also said a watchtower at the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain was struck at the same time, resulting in what it described as significant damage.
It praised the support of the Iranian public and said its “punitive operations” against U.S. targets would continue.
In a follow-up statement, the IRGC said its Aerospace Force carried out another attack, targeting U.S. military positions in Jordan and Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
The statement said the operation hit Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan, causing significant damage to several U.S. military aircraft, and struck a residence used by American troops, resulting in an unspecified number of casualties.
The IRGC also said its forces destroyed a Patriot air defense system and a surveillance aerostat in Erbil, and targeted a residence used by American troops in the city. It warned it would respond with additional measures if U.S. military action continued.
Blasts were reported in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq’s Kurdistan Region throughout the morning, with reports of interceptions and impacts.
Separately, the IRGC urged residents of countries hosting U.S. military forces to stay at least 500 meters away from locations it alleged were being used as covert accommodation for American troops.
In a statement, the IRGC accused the U.S. of violating a ceasefire agreement and resuming military operations, and claimed Washington had targeted civilian infrastructure and residential areas since the fighting resumed, causing civilian casualties.
The Corps said that if such attacks continued, its forces would carry out what it called “retaliatory justice” against those it held responsible. It further claimed that a number of American troops had abandoned their bases for buildings in urban areas, which it said were being used to direct military operations.
On that basis, the IRGC urged the public in countries hosting U.S. forces to stay at least 500 meters from any building it alleged was concealing American troops, and called on people to report the locations of such sites through its official Telegram account or the “Contact Us” section of its website.
Iran is successfully expanding its operations, while recent reports indicate that the U.S. could soon resume war in full, alongside Israel. In short, the ongoing limited confrontation will not likely remain limited for too long. Efforts to broker another ceasefire are reportedly underway, but the gap between the two sides seems to be even larger than before.
