Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced on November 21 that ISIS is ‘finished’ after being obliterated in Iraq and Syria, Reuters reported.
“Today with God’s guidance and the resistance of people in the region we can say that this evil has either been lifted from the head of the people or has been reduced,” Rouhani said in an address broadcast live on state TV. “Of course the remnants will continue but the foundation and roots have been destroyed,” he added.
Major General Qassem Soleimani, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), also said Islamic State had been defeated, in a message sent the same day to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei which was published on the Guards’ news site, Sepah News.
In a congratulatory message to the leader, General Soleimani hailed the “great victory” over ISIS which was achieved thanks to the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei and the sacrifices of all resistance fighters across Iraq and Syria. Soleimani also acknowledged the multinational force Iran has helped organize in the fight against Islamic State and thanked the “thousands of martyrs and wounded Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian, Afghan and Pakistani defenders of the shrine”.
Iraqi forces captured the border town of Rawa, the last remaining town there under Islamic State control, on November 17, signaling the collapse of the so-called caliphate it proclaimed in 2014 across swathes of Iraqi and Syrian territory, although last week militants re-infiltrated Abu Kamal, near the Iraqi border, and are still fighting there, as well as in some villages and desert areas nearby.
President Rouhani is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Tayyip Erdogan in Russia on November 22 to discuss the Syrian conflict.
Good job to everyone involved in stopping this western cabal ‘grand chessboard’ madness in its tracks.
There is no ISIS, there is no SDF. There is only a chameleon morphing into different opportunistic colors, as defined by the US state department. It is hard to kill this parasitical chameleon because of its deceptiveness, but just deprive it from living room and it will vanish.
Agreed, but why do you thing the US took HTS out of terror list and re-branded it as a “moderate” opposition? (The Rand assessment report to Pentagon)
I can only guess but probably because HTS is the only brand left currently fighting Syrian troops with any fighting power. Also there is nothing to lose as most brainwashed western audience who don’t actively follow the conflict don’t know that HTS = AQ.
The US, UK and Israel with their lackey the KSA, are behind all global terrorism and drug dealing. They collectively are ISIS because they created ISIS, trained it, armed it and funded it due to their being puppet States of the Zionist International Bankster – Oil Multinational / Corporatist Cabal in its international war for global hegemony for their “New World Order” Zio – Fascist Dictatorship – Kleptocracy.
but where is baghdady? or the remain of baghdaddy?
The physical Islamic State has been almost destroyed, but their heritage will remain with us for a long time, I am afraid.
All countries should closely monitor the circles from which this evil has evolved and all the contries hit by them, principally Iraq, Syria, and to a lesser extent their neighbours, have to start giving good and inclusive governance to their peoples, including respecting the rights of all minorities.
I am sad to say that at present the indications for good governance in the region are largely absent.
The evil which you talk about has a root, deep in Saudi Arabia. PKK better watch their back now that a Saudi minister, “Thamer Al-Sabhan” visited the territory occupied by PKK and promised to “help rebuild” Raqqa. Saudi help never comes free and the price is the recipient’s soul, total submission and erection of their Wahhabi madrasas. If they succeed, they may introduce us to a generation of Kurdish suicide terrorists. Pray it doesn’t happen.
As long as Saudis continue to export this hideous ideology and the US and “coalition” back them all the way, we really have no choice but to fight. Not only for our own sake, but for humanity as well.
Minority rights are also in danger as you pointed rightly, after we watch how KRG treats other ethnic groups in KAR and how PKK treats Arab residents of Raqqa and other areas. Minority rights in other countries of the region like Saudi Arabia and specially Bahrain (not really a minority, but the majority of Bahrain’s population) is at an all-time low.
Anyway, Iraq took a good step by implementing people of various ethnicity and religions into PMU and Lebanon and Hezbollah also showed it can be done. Just remains the most brutal regimes like Saudis, Bahrainis, Qataris and Emiraties as well as their true master, the “Jewish” state to join the “minority right” movement.
Reading your comment, one could almost guess it is the kurds ruling both Syria and the KRG, and not forget Turkey.
It is the kurds having NO rights both within Syria and Turkey and restricted rights within Iraq, and in all countries they have been, and to some extent still are, persecuted, genocided by the majorities of their countries.
Please acknowledge that as a start for any discussion.
AFAIK, it’s true in Turkey. Until a few years ago it was illegal to say “Kurd” in Turkey (they used mountain Turks instead) and you would face a lot of trouble if your cloth was the color of PKK banner.
In Syria it was different because most of Kurds in Syria came from Turkey, not originally Syrians. Do you see what happens in Rohingya? They too, came from Bangladesh and were not originals of Myanmar. I think Kurds situation in Syria was far better than them and even better than Turkey, again considering they were not citizens. However, president Assad gave them citizenship, didn’t he?
In Iraq, it was nightmare for Kurds as long as Saddam had the power, so was for Shi’as and basically anybody who spoke or even thought differently than Saddam. After writing the new Iraqi constitution, Kurds situation is vastly different. They have autonomy in KAR something that no other minority has in Iraq or any other country in the region), they have their own police, militia, government and schools in their own language. However, they pressed some minorities who lived in areas controlled by KRG Peshmerga, notably Yezidis and Assyrians and pressed them hard. Kurds in Iraq enjoy rights that no other groups have.
In Iran it’s not the case AT ALL. Short of a few separatist groups with history of terror acts, Iranian Kurds consider themselves Iranians. The last tragedy (earthquake) showed the unity of Iranians, Kurds or otherwise.
Do you recognize the pressure Iraqi Kurds put into Assyrians and Yezidis? Do you recognize KRG betrayal of them?
Do you recognize terror attacks by Kumela and PJAK in Iran, PKK in Turkey?
Do you recognize the limitations Kurdish forces in Syria create for the people who live in the lands currently occupied by them?
Almost, but there are still terrorirsts groups like Nustra, AlQaeda, SDF, moderated opposition. War is not over by defeating ISIS, this is over when all terrorists group are eliminated.
He is wrong. USA had not been destroyed.
Iran now is next for Israel to destroy somehow.
