According to head of the Iranian defense department, Hossein Dehghan, the Syrian authorities asked Tehran to provide Russia an Iranian Air Base in Hamadan. The sides need the airdrome to fight terrorists, the RIA Novosti reported on Saturday, citing the minister.

Russian bombers fly to Hamadan to refuel or arm, Hossein Dehghan said. According to the minister, Iran has no plans to provide Russia its other bases, but if this is needed, the question will be considered.

A day before, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that joint actions of Russia, Iran and Turkey against terrorism does not mean the creation of a new coalition. She also noted that cooperation between the sides does not replace the existing formats of the crisis’ solution. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu praised relations between Ankara and Moscow. And his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, offered to organize a tripartite meeting to discuss ways to resolve conflicts in the region.

Meanwhile, Russian aircraft, based in Iran, carry out successful attacks on the terrorists’ forces. On Thursday, bombers targeted the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group’s objects in the province of Deir ez-Zor in Syria.

Earlier, the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out airstrikes with aircraft placed on the Hmeymim air base in Syria, while the long-range air power carried out flights from the North Caucasus airdromes.

This is positive news. Iran and Russia have come along way since Joseph Stalin invaded and conquered Iran during the Second World War against Nation States.
Iran should take that offer from a year ago and buy that good Russian S-400 system already.
And they should allow Russia in return an intelligence base to monitor Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and the UK and US naval ships in the Persian Gulf.
