The period of September 23-24, 2025, was characterized by the active use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and strike weapons by both sides. According to reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense, 70 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down over Russian territory during the night, with an additional 111 intercepted during the day. In turn, 152 UAVs of the “Geran”/”Gerbera” types were launched against Ukraine (of which 126 were reported shot down).
Ukrainian strikes were concentrated on Russia’s coastal zones and key oil and gas infrastructure, while Russia continued targeted strikes on military and strategic objects within Ukraine. Activity was observed in the Krasnodar Krai, in the areas of Novorossiysk, Tuapse, and Sochi, where a “drone alarm” was declared and beaches were evacuated.
Simultaneously, the Russian Black Sea Fleet reported the destruction of several Ukrainian unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in the Black Sea waters, which were attempting to attack oil and gas infrastructure facilities, including the “Sivash” gas production unit at the Golitsynskoye field. Two more unmanned boats attempted to break into a bay in Mezhvodnoye but became entangled in anti-boat net barriers and were destroyed by FPV drone crews.
It was reported that two major Russian oil ports on the Black Sea – the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal and Shekharis – temporarily suspended tanker loading due to the threat of drone attacks.

Novorossiysk (Krasnodar Region): The city came under a combined air and sea attack. UAVs struck the city center, resulting, according to local authorities, in two deaths, with the number of injured rising to 12, including one minor. Residential buildings, the “Novorossiysk” hotel, and about twenty cars were damaged. According to eyewitness reports, some of the UAVs were filled with centimeter-diameter steel balls, which caused significant damage to infrastructure.
Tuapse and Sochi: Port infrastructure was attacked in Tuapse, resulting in two civilian casualties, including a child. In Sochi and other resort settlements of Krasnodar Krai, an alarm was declared, and vacationers were evacuated from beaches due to the threat of UAV and USV attacks.
Bashkortostan
The “Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat” oil refinery was attacked by drones for the second time in a week. The head of the republic reported a fire at the enterprise (More details Link).
Attacks were also recorded in Belogorod, Kursk, Rostov, and Volgograd Regions. In Belgorod, civilians were injured as a result of a strike on an apartment building.

In Kursk Region, damage to energy infrastructure and civilian injuries were reported. The governor of Volgograd Region stated that a massive UAV attack on fuel and energy complex facilities had been repelled.

Russian strikes on September 23-24 targeted critically important military infrastructure, industrial, and energy facilities in various regions of Ukraine.
Zaporizhzhia
Systematic strikes on the aircraft engine manufacturing cluster continued. An auxiliary building of the “Motor Sich” plant, which housed parts preparation areas and auxiliary power facilities, was hit. This enhanced the cumulative effect of previous strikes, further fragmenting the technological chain for servicing and repairing aircraft engines, including the critical D-18T engines for An-124 “Ruslan” planes.

Kharkiv Region
A massive strike was carried out on the “Ivanivka” substation (110/6 kV), causing serious damage and cutting off power to key consumers, including the Southern Railway Station, disrupting rail logistics. The “Avtokom-Servis” facility, used as a repair site, was also hit.
Dnipropetrovsk Region
A strike by an “Iskander-M” operational-tactical missile system on the “Kamenka” airfield destroyed hangars and infrastructure related to UAV maintenance, including long-wing UAVs. Routine inspections, repairs, and preparation of systems for combat use were conducted here. Furthermore, several army aviation helicopters were stationed at the site, performing tasks in conjunction with air defense units, specifically practicing the detection and interception of attack drones, as had been visually observed and reported by local residents. The strike on the “Kamenka” airfield is reported not as an isolated incident but as part of a systematic campaign to suppress UAV infrastructure and Ukrainian Air Force aviation units. The simultaneous destruction of drone logistics, hangar facilities, and helicopter equipment significantly reduces the combat stability of Ukrainian units in the region and weakens their ability to counter massive raids. Additionally, near the village of Prosiana, a grain elevator converted into a command post and ammunition depot was hit.
Chernihiv Region
A missile strike targeted a training unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces near the settlement of Honcharovske. The Ukrainian side confirmed casualties among personnel.
Other Regions
Strikes were also carried out on an area where Ukrainian units were concentrated in Kherson Region and on a fortified area in Konstantinovka (DPR), where, according to sources, a Ukrainian command post was located. Reports indicate that this stationary command post was set up in the basement of a building with cable lines, stationary workstations, and beds for temporary personnel accommodation. Apartments were used as storage and operational positions.
According to operational information, the facility was serviced by personnel attached to the 12th “Azov” Brigade. Traces of the installation of ground observation post elements and portable electronic warfare means were found on the territory. The impact of a FAB-1000 bomb destroyed part of the guidance equipment. Reports indicate at least 8 military personnel killed and between 12 and 20 wounded.

This indicates a priority on tasks aimed at reducing the combat capability of Ukrainian troops and their technical base.
The Russian Ministry of Defense emphasizes the importance of managing unmanned systems in modern warfare. As Defense Minister Andrei Belousov noted at a technical council, the effectiveness of armed forces’ actions largely depends on improving UAV control systems and their integration with new technologies—artificial intelligence, neural networks, and technical vision. This approach is designed to enhance the speed and accuracy of fire missions carried out using unmanned means, which remains relevant in the context of the current exchange of strikes.
