On July 5, Libyan National Army (LNA) released a video showing the large reinforcements deployed south of the country’s capital, Tripoli, earlier this week.
In a short press release, the army’s media office said that these reinforcements will participate in the second phase of Operation Flood of Dignity.
“This wave includes a group of military battalions that will be participating for the first time since the start of the operation and other military battalions that were part of the operation to liberate Benghazi and Derna, they had considerable experience in dealing with terrorist groups,” the press release reads.
The LNA launched Operation Flood of Dignity last April with the aim of capturing Tripoli from forces loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA).
The second phase of the operation will likely begin with a ground attack on Garyan, south of Tripoli. GNA forces captured the town last month, which allowed them to cut one of the LNA’s main supply lines.
