Both Russian and Ukrainian military are massively using small and cheap FPV drones for attacks on enemy military equipment and manpower. Russian military sources have shared a video of one of the strikes on a group of Ukrainian servicemen on the battlefield.
The FPV drone targeted three Ukrainian soldiers evacuating their wounded comrade. The strike heavily wounded one of them. The two servicemen who survived the attack decided to throw the body from the stretcher likely to save their wounded comrade but suddenly changed their mind and decided to leave them both dying on the battlefield.
i thought stretcher bearers were considered off limits from attack ? as much as i support the smo and russia in this conflict, neither side should attack ambulances or troops bearing stretchers for the wounded. i believe it is a violation of the geneva conventions. i know the ukes have not been observing them, but i hope the russian troops including drone operators will obey putin’s general orders to avoid any war crime activitly.
next thing you know ukies start using stretchers as a common transport method. :l
never have i heard that targeting soldiers while evacuating other, wounded soldiers was against the rules of war, they are soldiers, armed personnel, not unarmed medics even. i see no point in further dragging out the war, kill them now so you don’t have to do it later, get it over with. if they don’t like being killed on the battlefield they should surrender like some of their more sensible comrades do.
per the geneva convention, soldiers who are ‘hors combat’ out of the fight, i.e medical, journalists, and soldiers carrying injured shoud not be targetted. you can search it on the interwebs. apparently quite early in this war rule was broken. nato /ukraine was the first side to deliver and/or use illegal weapons in the eyes of most of the world; depleted uranium shells and cluster bombs. so it more likely that ukraine forces started killing hors combat stretcher bearers first.
technically “hors de combat” is defined as:
(a) anyone who is in the power of an adverse party;
(b) anyone who is defenseless because of unconsciousness, shipwreck, wounds or sickness; or
(c) anyone who clearly expresses an intention to surrender;
provided he or she abstains from any hostile act and does not attempt to escape.
by this definition stretcher bearers are fair game, although not the wounded soldier that they were carrying who was also hit by the drone. i think these rules are meaningless though, the idea of “defenseless” is ridiculous in modern war. the geneva conventions may have been created with good intentions but they also give the illusion that there is some kind of order in war when there is not.
plus russia is the only country on earth that even tries to pay attention to the geneva convention. their pow camps are relatively comfy, whereas the ukrainian pow camps are torture camps. no other country bothers with the geneva convention either as we’ve clearly seen.
it’s literally a rules for thee but not for me type of situation.
i think the wounded soldier was dead body.
the geneva convention is old and today’s weapons are heavy. ordinary soldiers indulge in personal revenge and ww1-era christmas peace, where opposing sides play football together – can no longer happen.
during cuba’s war against the afrikaners one of their best generals,a national hero, was convicted of involvement in drug smuggling on the side, and executed;if you talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk
straight outta’ william randolph hearst! was this guy involved in the procurement of the vast fleet of mig aircraft by the sandinistas, too?
you are right. per the geneva convention, soldiers who are ‘hors combat’ out of the fight, i.e medical, journalists, and soldiers carrying injured shoud not be targetted. you can search it on the interwebs. apparently quite early in this war rule was broken. nato /ukraine was the first side to deliver and/or use illegal weapons in the eyes of most of the world; depleted uranium shells and cluster bombs. so it more likely that ukraine forces started killing hors combat stretcher bearers first.
unfortunately many of these soldiers were probably waiting for the first chance to surrender, only to be killed out of nowhere by drones or artillery.
why play by rules that no one else is willing to observe? russia is already giving the ukraine a big advantage by not destroying their infrastructure, which would be fair game. if ukraine had the ability to take out russia’s critical infrastructure, water, power supply, they would’ve done it 100 times over already
this war has gone on long enough, the ukros have committed so many warcrimes that western pmcs had to leave because of it.
it’s time to just start taking the ukrops out at every convenient opportunity.
wise up idiots.
surrender and to hell with dying for the zelinski rogue regime.
what else would you do? stick around for the next drone? no. remember the old rule: one wounded takes three out of action; one dead takes only one..
cowards with no moral principles. a mentality of a group of entitled cattle waiting for western handouts created this whole mess in 2014. that’s what ukraine stands for. i think
it needs to be fully dismantled.
a very sad sight – neither the attack to evacuate the wounded nor the behavior of the comrades is in order…
ouch, this kind of pussynes i haven’t seen ever
it’s pretty pathetic, they’re running away from the lines, carrying a wounded. they then make an attempt to rescue the newly wounded, now the first one is dead. they seem to spot something in the sky before running away, probably saw another drone. this is really a stretch to describe them as cowards.
exactly. these guys were possibly wounded themselves and their ears were definitely ringing after surviving that blast. hard to fault them for self-preservation.
i also think, if it had been russian soldiers carrying a wounded, the uproar on sf would be intense.
aspoň, že mu tam nechali nosidlá. môže sa teraz aspoň nejako transportovať. keď už nevládze po svojich. ha, ha, ha … svetu mier!!!
i think attacking injured people is really nasty. attacking these 3 guys wasn’t fair or right. these soldiers are panicking about further attacks. the fpv operator triggered this. if he hadn’t attacked those men, none of this would have happened.
tell that to the unarmed russians who were executed on the road from the first days.
and for innocent victims like the odessa tragedy since 2014.
and next to whose corpse ukrainians and mercenaries took selfies with big smiles on their faces.
the text states that the fpv drone targeted these men. that’s a misphrase…..the guy at the remote control targeted these 3 men.
video sbagliato…. ingiudicabile.
i could’nt care less !
he zigged when he shoulda zagged.
