In Video: Taliban Glad To Find Ballistic Missiles In Panjshir, But They Are Likely Useless

The Taliban reportedly found elements of the Soviet-made 9K72 Elbrus short-range ballistic missile systems, including 8K-14 (R-17) missiles, in the Panjshir Valley.

The Elbrus complex was produced in the Soviet Union in 1962-1987 and was in service with a number of countries, including the Ministry of State Security of the Republic of Afghanistan. They were actively used during the war in Afghanistan and proved their effectiveness during the attacks on mujahideen’s fortifications.

Highly likely, the missiles found in Panjshir have long been out of order, as they are old and were stored in inadequate conditions for decades.

That CEP of 450m is too much for these bombs tho, 1000kg warheads high explosive but, still, the CEP is too wide for accuracy, if the CEP was 150m they would do more damage of course but falling anywhere in CEP of 450m its too much, what if it falls at the end of the CEP range which is 450m it’s not going to touch the target tho that will be 450m far away.

Corrupt shithole of Ukropisstan

Thank you USA…

“The Elbrus complex was produced in the Soviet Union in 1962-1987 and is still in service with a number of countries, including the Ministry of State Security of the Republic of Afghanistan.”

What? There is no Republic of Afghanistan anymore, and while I may be wrong, I’m fairly sure that no organization by the name of “Ministry of State Security” existed within that state. SF, please do a better job of checking your facts.

Robespierre

The Democratic Republic of Afghanistan/later simply the Republic of Afghanistan existed from 1978-1992. Whilst the cited sentence from report is clumsy in use of mixed English language tenses, and skips out on the complexities of Afghan regime history, most readers can understand the context. That these missiles date from regime that was Soviet client and ally.

“[T]he cited sentence from report is clumsy in use of mixed English language tenses…”

And because of that, the claim therein is false. This is a journalistic outlet, not the Bible. There should be no room for interpretation.

US & EU are Zion slaves

The fuking backward Sunnis don’t know how to use it or repair it, just like their kind in KSA, UAE, and Qatar.
Also, why would those backward fuks want weapons?
