On February 14, Ukrainian unmanned boats attacked the Russian large landing ship Caezar Kunikov near the southern coast of the Crimean peninsula. As a result of the battle, the ship reportedly sank, but the crew fought to the last.
The ship was reportedly attacked with ten unmanned boats. Some of them were destroyed by Russian fire, but several drones struck the ship. The recently published footage from the ship shows the crew fighting the drones. Unfortunately, the command did not learn a lesson of the previous Ukrainian attacks and did not take measures to strengthen the defense of the ships against the unmanned boats. The crew is seen firing from their machine guns. The sailors are not equipped with any night vision devices that could help them detect approaching boats at night.

not true. even if every russian ship in the black sea is sunk, russians still have formidable coastal artilery and rocket systems. nato is light years far from entering russian territorial waters, if ever.

…even if most navy surface vessels were to be disabled, there are still subs, aircraft and land to sea missiles, nato could not come in without a fight. russia will eventually plug this hole in their defense, and also keep in mind here that this video appears to be dated from the 14th of feb, that’s almost a month ago. :-)
nato won’t touch russian territory on land or sea. they’ll blockade the sea and funnel huge amounts of resources to the odessa region and help ukrops to push east to the original russian border and beyond. technically novorossia is russian land yet the russian government doesn’t defend it with nukes. same way they won’t defend their mainland. plus when the black sea is in nato control the duplicitous turks will go full on against russia. guaranteed.

well, russ is losing too many ships to these boats, and their defense doesn’t work. need to see them earlier, have radar or whatever higher up, need infra red at night, more guns putting out more bullets, more gatling guns or rapid cannon fire like us warships or more or lancets. what they got, isn’t enough, or russ will lose control of the sea.
again incompetent commanders lose another ship just because they dont supply night vision, powerful torchs, long range sniper rifles and machine guns ( cheytac/ cal 50) both with thermal vision.

some reporting that the boat drone swarm was after the crimea bridge and this russia ship defended successfully, as crimea bridge was not hit.
this shot shows the complete unpreparedness of the crews for these attacks, no heavy machine guns with searchlights, lights pointed in the air and only a couple of soldiers desperately defending themselves. apparently neither the commanders nor the admirals have learned anything. they must be driven into the firing trenches.😪
obviously all future military vessels will have an outer floating ring on stanchions standing off from the hull which blocks a metre above and below the water line. secondary hulls required as an urgency. like reactive armor on a tank. come on russia!!! build it!!!

dust off the punt guns and cannons loaded with grape shot! but thinking about previous reports of destroyed marine drones, most are probably dealt with from the air long before they get close to anything, and small arms fire is only the last line of defence when all else has failed.
another idea, depth charges couldn’t be used with people in the water because the shock wave would kill them, same as dynamite fishing, would something like that disable drones too?
how about electronic countermeasures. russians are good at that so i wonder where is the problem in jamming of remote (rf) controlled drones signal.
fire a cable into the swarm and discharge an emp shockwave through the cable to disable the swarm boats… like demining, but diffetent…
that is so sad. russia has the technology of automatic cannons, radar and thermal tracking. why do they fight like they try to fend off people in rubber boats? why the searchlöights and no tactical lighting on board? do they try to be a ideal target? some of those drones don’t have thermal, just ccd cameras, that struggle under starlight.

the boats should have multiple torpedo tubes set up in a fan. with the defence they have i doubt they could fend that of, 10 x 10 = 100.

a lot of this smells like politics. nothing justifies russian demands that ukraine seed all black sea coast to russia because of the drone boats. perhaps russia doesn’t want to let the uk know its cracked their codes yet either, so they are ‘playing weak’ to hide a strong hand. the surprise cookie monster claims is coming to russia, may not be much of a surprise…we’ll see.
china and iran should send people there to learn about this drones and how to counter them they will soon have to deal with them themselves. but it seems that just like always the americans and brits can count on fighting their enemys one on one. only the “axis of resistance” seem to have some cooperation going but even there most are just content with just doing the bare minimum besides hamas and the huthis.
