The Russian military has destroyed a large camp of Kiev forces in the direction of Kharkiv using tactical ballistic missiles.

It is unclear when exactly the missile attack took place. However, video footage of the attack was posted to social media on March 29. The camp , which included Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries, was hidden in a forest to the south of the city of Chuhuiv, some 44 kilometers from the border of the Russian region of Belgorod.

Kiev forces likely used the hidden camp as a staging ground for its recent infiltration attempts into Belgorod, which were all foiled by the Russian military.

Footage of the Russian attack shows at least two tactical ballistic missiles hitting the camp, destroying vehicles and setting tents on fire.

The attack was most likely carried out with 9M723 quasi-ballistic missiles launched from the 9K720 Iskander system. The 9M723 missile has a range of nearly 500 kilometers. The missile has several different conventional warheads and can deliver Nuclear weapons.

The maneuverable missile, which is equipped with decoys and has high resistance to electronic warfare, is guided by a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system. It can be also equipped with an optical seeker with a digitized scene-mapping area correlator system for terminal guidance. The accuracy of the missile is said to be between 1-30 meters.

Russia increased the production of 9M723 ballistic missiles after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine two years ago.

In recent months, the Russian military used the Iskander system against several high-value targets of Kiev forces, including United States-supplied MIM-104 Patriot long-range air defense systems.
