On July 19, the Abkhazian Network News Agency (ANNA) released a video of recent Russian and Syrian airstrikes on militants’ positions and equipment in northern Hama.

The video shows several airstrikes targeting militants’ rocket launchers, vehicles, fortified positions and underground bunkers.

ANNA said that the airstrikes foiled a plan by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies to launch a new ground attack on the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) positions in northern Hama.

“They wanted to start attack with powerful shelling of makeshift Elephant rockets. But the preparations of the terrorists were observed from the air, and airstrikes were launched against them,” the agency said.

Earlier this month, HTS, supported by Turkish-backed groups and al-Qaeda-affiliated factions, attempted to advance in northern Hama. Despite initial success, the terrorist group’s attack ended up with a major failure.

HTS attempt to launch yet another attack in the same area indicates that the terrorist group and its allies are not willing to de-escalate the situation any time soon.
