Another German Leopard 1A5 tank was filmed burning on Ukrainian frontlines. The newly shared footage was reportedly filmed in the Kharkiv region. The German tank was equipped with the Soviet Kontakt-1 explosive reactive armor. It was also reinforced with Ukrainian mine sweeper. No additional equipment helped the German tank to survive in the battle.
The knife-type minesweepers seen on the destroyed Leopard tank are aimed to help the tank to overcome minefields. This is a dump with special knives fixed on its lower edge. Mines are plowed in front of the tank tracks with knives, after which the extracted mines are discarded beyond the passage with a blade. Such minesweepers are quite effective on soft or sno-cowered soil but they also slow down the speed of the tank and decrease its manoeuvrability.
The Soviet Kontakt-1 is now mandatory for the Ukrainian military. After the failed bloody offensive in the Zaporozhie region last year and heavy losses in NATO vehicles, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to urgently reinforce the defense of German Leopard, as well as Americal Abrams tanks to use them in the battles and save at least some of their prestige.
As a result, all foreign tanks are equipped with the old Soviet reactive armor. For example, Ukrainian military sources shared one of their last American Abrams tanks with the Kontakt-1 armor and a grill aimed at protecting the vehicle from Russian FPV drones.

NATO tanks and other weapons have proven their low effectiveness in battles against the Russian military. No Soviet equipment saves the Armed Forces of Ukraine from loosing the precious gifts from NATO on the battlefields. For example, today, Ukrainian forces lost another German Leopard tank in the Pokrovsk direction in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

tank was conceptualized as a breakthrough weapon against maxim’s guns during ww1. in the end of ww2, air power, landmines and at guns were already taking out most of the tanks. just look at gaza.
now there are always some cases were tanks can or must be exploited, but it’s success is very dependent on the situation, the first condition now seems to be a clear sky : even the turtle tanks had shown limited efficiency facing horde of drones.

drone warfare has nearly made tank warfare obsolete. but then again, antidrone systems are getting better, but short range fiber optic tethered drones will need to be addressed with a kinetic interception system, obviously.
