On February 22, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially declared the full Russian control of the village of Pobeda located south of Mariinka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. After the battle for the settlement, the footage of the Russian assault was shared online. The Ukrainian military suffered significant losses in military equipment during the battle for Pobeda, including in the precious NATO tanks and armored vehicles.
Ignoring all the instructions from NATO, no measures were taken by Ukrainian tankers to prevent Western armored vehicles from falling into the Russian Armed Forces. At least three German Leopard tanks were reportedly struck near the village. One of them was reportedly taken to the Russian rear.
The Ukrainian military attempted to use the destroyed German MBT Leopard as a shield during the operation, but failed to hide from Russian fire. The M113 armored personnel carrier from the US arrived to the battlefield to evacuate the wounded; but was also destroyed:

The decisive assault on the village was launched by the Russian 255 regiment of the Southern Military District. Supported by artillery fire from different directions, Russian servicemen knocked the AFU off the streets and repelled Ukrainian counterattacks.
As a result of the battles, the Russian 255th Regiment planted the Banner of Victory over the settlement of ‘Victory’ (Pobeda means Victory in Russian):
