Russian reconnaissance drone filmed a group of Ukrainian of retreating Ukrainian servicemen being destroyed by their own comrades. The footage likely shows the operation of one of numerous barrier squads on the Ukrainian military positions.
The video shows Russian servicemen entering Ukrainian trenches for the mop up operation. At the same time, Ukrainian servicemen, who were ordered to hold control of the position, are seen retreating to another line of Ukrainian trenches, where they were welcomed by their brothers in arms. The barrier squad is seen intentionally firing at the retreating servicemen, destroying them with grenades.
The group of servicemen deployed on the second line of trenches could be mistaken and could open a friendly fire; but they had enough time to see the insignias of the retreating Ukrainian group and they even fired at the last Ukrainian serviceman who survived and attempted to retreat. Russian sources which shared the video claimed that it shows the operation of a barrier squad. Numerous testimonies of Ukrainian servicemen and evidences from the front confirm that the barrier squads are deployed in various directions.
At the end, the members of the barrier squad were destroyed by Russian UAV.

friendly fire means they would have not been able to see their insignias. the issue with your claim here is that the ones retreating in their ukrianian direction even dropped their guns. furthermore, it would also be assumed that they were yelling and telling them to go back. there is hesitation before the shooting begin, most likely ad a result of the fleeing soldiers refusing to return to their forward positions after which they begin to slaughter them.
the end ot it is that there are many many documented cases of blocking squads in ukraine. even ukrianian sources are now admitting them and calling them out. occam’s razor only implies rhe simplest option. when a pattern is present, i.e. the increasingly large number of blocking formation in ukrainian lines, then the simplist option it to maintain that said pattern is the norm. finally thos blockers didn’t act frantically, they identified and killed knowing what they were doing

yes. nkvd units. its now used by the west to demonstrate soviet barbarism but the british sergeants traditionally carried a spontoon to encourage soldiers to move forward. in ww1 a couple of photos got past the censors which show sergeants standing behing troops encouraging them to go over the top with a lee enfiled rifle in hand.
