The deliberate downing of the Russian warplane SU-24 last Tuesday detonated a series of reactions among the members of NATO.

Jacques Cheminade, leader of the French Solidarity and Progress Party stated on Friday that his country should leave the military alliance if Turkey continues to keep its membership in the organization, since the incident regarding the Russian airliner deliberately downed by the Turkish Airforce.

However, NATO claimed its compromise to support Ankara despite the events since they received information about the incident from the Turkish government that was consistent with the evaluation made by the military union.

According to declarations of Turkish authorities, the Russian airliner had invaded their airspace briefly.

Cheminade also recognized that France’s stance towards the intervention of Syrian armed forces could be relevant in the fight against the Islamic State. Even, the French president François Hollande didn’t discard the possibility that Syrian Army could join the anti-ISIL coalition despite his disapproval of Bashar Al Assad’s government.
