The identities of some of the Saudi officers who were allegedly killed in the Houthis’ recent ballistic missile strike on a military camp in the southern Saudi province of Jizan have been revealed.

The Houthis launched five ballistic missile of an unspecified type at the camp, where the Saudi military’s Jizan Force is based, late on October 20. Only one missile was intercepted by the air-defenses of the Saudi-led coalition.

According to the Houthis’ claims, more than 35 Saudi service members, including officers and pilots, were killed or wounded as a result of the large-scale ballistic missile strike.

Zaid Benjamin, a journalist of the London-based New Arab outlet, confirmed that at least six Saudi officers and 12 soldiers were killed.

The journalist and Saudi activists identified some of the casualties as:

  • Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah bin Nasser al-Wahaibi.
  • First Lieutenant Nasser Awaid Obaid al-Dhiabi.
  • Captain Abdullah al-Sulaimi al-Harbi.
  • Captain Faisal bin Fahd al-Ajyan.
  • Captain Ali bin Saleh al-Luhaidan.
  • First Corporal El Hassan Mohamed Atoudi.

The Houthis claimed that their missiles targeted a headquarters, several ammunition depots and AH-64 Apache attack helicopters landing pads.

In response to the strike, warplanes of the Saudi-led coalition carried out a series of airstrikes on the Houthi-held Yemeni capital of Sanaa. The coalition said that legitimate military targets were struck. Nevertheless, a civilian was killed and three others were wounded.
