Houthis Shot Down Two Spy Drones Of Saudi-led Coalition: Report

The Yemeni Air Defense (loyal to the Houthis government) shot down two reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, the Houthis’ Al-Masirah TV reported on December 30.

According  to the report, one of the drones belonging to the coalition was shot down by a “surface-to-air missile” in the Al-Salif area of Hodeidah province. Another one was downed in the Razih district in Sa’adah province.

Al-Masirah TV said that the drone downed near Hodeidah was the Vestel Karayel surveillance, reconnaissance and combat UAV/UCAV system developed by Turkey. However, the TV channel released no visual evidence to confirm this claim.

According to Al-Masirah TV, a spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces (loyal to the Houthis) desscribed this development as a start of the 2020 campaign. Earlier, the Houthis said that 2020 will be the Air Defense Year in Yemen.
