The Houthis (Ansar Allah) announced on April 11 that they had launched another attack at the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and other warships of the United States Navy in the Red Sea in response to recent strikes on Yemen.

In a statement, Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that the group targeted the vessels with multiple suicide drones and cruise missiles.

“The Armed Forces confirm, through the continuation of their defensive operations, that the enemy has failed to influence Yemeni military capabilities, and that, with God’s help, they will continue to perform their defensive duties on land and at sea,” the spokesman added.

The Houthis have been targeting USS Harry S. Truman on a near-daily basis since the start of the U.S. operation in Yemen on March 15. So far, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has not acknowledged any damage to the carrier or any of the vessels accompanying it.

The Houthis’ latest attack just hours after CENTCOM announced that the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, which is carrying F-35C Lightning II stealth fighter jets, was now operating alongside the USS Harry S. Truman in the Middle East.

Some 90 people, including civilians and commanders of the Houthis, have been killed since U.S. President Donlad Trump ordered the operation in response to the group’s renewed attacks on Israel-affiliated shipping in the Red Sea.

Some 11 U.S. strikes targeted the region around the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, overnight with the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV reporting no casualties.

While the Houthis have undoubtedly taken some losses as a result of recent U.S. strikes, their military capabilities are yet to be degraded.

Abdul Malik al-Houthi, the head of the group, stated that the U.S. had failed to diminish their military strength in a speech delivered on April 10.

“The Americans have not been able, and will never be able, to weaken our military capabilities,” the leader said, stressing that “the American aggression only contributes to further developing them more and more.”

The ongoing operation in Yemen has reportedly cost the U.S. over $1 billion so far. With the addition of a second aircraft carrier and the recent deployment of B-2 strategic stealth bombers, the cost is expected to skyrocket in coming weeks. Still, the Trump administration will not likely back down.

us combat/surveillance drones are also expensive and there have been plenty of those biting the sand in yemen. the actions of the usadmin will only harden the resolve of the houthi’s because they are reacting to a genocide going on in palestine whilst those with their fancy organisations sit on their hands. the houthi’s only need to get lucky once. then the western world will listen.
