The Yemeni Armed Forces, a key ally of the Houthis, will soon reveal advanced weapons systems, including new ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the armed forces, revealed on June 26.
“The reveal of these new weapons will represent a major development in the history of the Yemeni military, especially the weapons that successfully passed its tests and proved thir efficiently in the battlefield,” the spokesman said in an official statement.
Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari went on to claim that all the branches of the Yemeni Armed Forces are currently developing their defensive capabilities.
In the last few weeks, the Houthis stepped up their missiles and UAVs attacks on strategic targets in southern Saudi Arabia. The Yemeni group even used cruise missiles in at least two successful attacks.
The Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman didn’t specify when the new weapons systems will be revealed. However, such statements are usually released a few days only before the big reveal.
