On February 6, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson Yahya Saree announced successful attacks on US and British ships in response to the aggression of the United States and Britain against Yemen and in support of the Palestinian people.
As part of the first military operation, the Yemeni armed forces attacked the US ship Star Nasia. The second attack targeted the British ship Morning Tide in the Red Sea. Both strikes were launched using anti-ship missiles. According to Ansar Allah, the “designated targets were hit by a direct strikes”.
Yahya Saree warned that “as part of the legitimate protection of the country of Yemen and its people, the country’s Armed Forces will conduct more military operations against American and British targets in the Red and Arabian Seas.”
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed that the naval vessel was attacked 57 nautical miles west of the Yemeni port of Hodeidah. A shell was reportedly fired on the port side. It passed over the bridge, causing minor damage to the glazing of the vessel. None of the crew members were injured, the ship continued on its way.
Earlier, the central command of the US armed Forces (CENTCOM) reported that the US military had discovered two Houthi surface drones in Yemen and struck them. According to the US military, they both “posed an immediate threat to US Navy ships and commercial vessels in the region.”
On the evening of February 6, preliminary reports claimed another attack on a Greek ship vessel flying the flag of the Marshall Islands. A bulk carrier reportedly came under attack while passing in the southern direction of the maritime security transit corridor about 53 nautical miles southwest of Yemen’s Aden. The reports are yet to be confirmed.
