The Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen launched another wave of missile and drone strikes on April 26, mainly attacking targets in Israel in response to the war on the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that the group had launched a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile at Nevatim Air Base in southern Israel. He added that “the missile reached its target, thank God, and the interception systems failed to stop it.”
Sirens sounded in the city of Beersheba, which is located some 15 kilometers to the southeast of the air base, amid the attack. However, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced later that the missile was intercepted before it could cross the country’s border.
The Houthis announced later in a separate statement that they had launched two suicide drones at “vital targets” located near the central Israeli city of Tel Aviv and close to the city of Ashkelon in the south of the country.
Brig. Gen. Saree said in the same statement that additional suicide drones were launched at the United States aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and several warships accompanying it in the northern Red Sea.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces affirm that they will continue to carry out their military operations deep inside the Zionist entity in occupied Palestine at an escalating pace, seeking help from God Almighty, and will not stop doing so regardless of the extent of the American aggression against our country. They will confront the American escalation with a similar escalation, and military operations will continue in the Red and Arabian Seas, targeting all hostile targets until the aggression against Gaza stops and the siege is lifted,” the spokesman added.
The IDF said that a single drone launched “from the east” was shot down. However, there was no comment from the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which is responsible for American military operations in the Middle East, on the other claims made by the Houthis.
CENTCOM resumed strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen on March 15 on orders from President Donald Trump, who said that the large-scale operation was launched in response to the group’s renewed attacks on Israel-affiliated shipping in the Red Sea.
More than 1,000 strikes have targeted Yemen since then, killing 217 civilians and injuring over 430, mostly women and children.
The U.S. operation is yet to deter the Houthis. Since March 18, when the IDF resumed its offensive in Gaza, the group has launched more than 20 ballistic missiles and several suicide drones at Israel.

how is possible that a poor, primitive & small country can still launch missile/drone attacks almost 2 years after hamas oct.7 attack & their anti-air missiles are still shooting down like 2 dozen $30 million us reaper drones & keeping 2 us carrier task groups tie up, depleting their expensive weapons & other resources. it doesn’t bode well for any future attack on iran which is much much larger, better armed, defended & can retaliate
