Late on November 10, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) announced that they had targeted military camps of the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, a spokesman for the Yemeni group said that three ballistic missiles were launched at the Saudi military’s 1st Regiment camp near the city of Dhahran in the southern Saudi province of ‘Asir, two at a training camp of Saudi-backed forces in the southwestern Yemeni province of Taiz and two other missiles at military camps of Saudi-backed forces in the central Yemeni province of Ma’rib.

“The operation resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of local mercenaries, Saudi soldiers and officers, including the commander of the first regiment in Dhahran,” the spokesman, Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, said in the statement.

A few hours prior to the Houthis’ announcement, the Saudi-led coalition said that its air defenses had intercepted three ballistic missiles over the Kingdom’s southern region.

The Saudi-led coalition responded to the missile attack by carrying out a series of airstrikes on the Houthi-held Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and the northern province of Saada, the heartland of the Yemeni group.

“The targets included ballistic missiles and drone sites as well as weapons depots,” Col. Turki Al-Maliki, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, said in a statement. “The airstrikes achieved their goals of neutralizing cross-border attacks and attempts to target civilians and civilian properties.”

The coalition’s intense airstrikes caused heavy material damage in both Sanaa and Saada. Nevertheless, no casualties were reported.

The Houthis will not be deterred by the Saudi-led coalition airstrikes. The Yemeni group will likely launch more drone and missile attacks against the coalition and its proxies in the upcoming few days.
