The Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen appear to have launched three ballistic missiles at Israel on September 3 in under 12 hours.
In the morning, the group announced that it had attacked “sensitive targets” close to the city of Tel Aviv in central Israel with a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile armed with a cluster warhead and a more traditional Zulfiqar ballistic missile.
“The operation achieved its objectives successfully, thanks to God, and forced millions of usurping Zionists to rush to shelters, and the (Ben Gurion) airport’s operations were suspended,” Houthi spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree said in a statement, noting that the attack was carried out in support of the Gaza Strip and in response to recent Israeli attacks on Yemen.
The Palestine-2 is a two-stage solid-fueled hypersonic missile that appears to be derivative from Iran’s first hypersonic missile Fattah-1. It has a range of over 2,150 kilometers and a top speed equivalent to 16 times the speed of sound, according to the Houthis. The version armed with a cluster warhead was used by the group just last month.
Meanwhile, the Zulfiqar is a single stage liquid-propellant missile with a detachable warhead. It is thought to be an improved copy of the Iranian-made Rezvan with a range of over 2,000 kilometers.
Missile alerts sounded across central Israel, including in the Tel Aviv area, amid the attack. Later, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that a single missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by air defenses. No casualties were reported. The military didn’t clarify the fate of the second Houthi missile.
Later in the afternoon, the IDF announced the interception of another missile launched by the Houthis from Yemen by air defenses. Sirens sounded in the Jerusalem area and several parts of the southern West Bank. Again, there were no reports of casualties.
Just a day earlier, the IDF said that the Houthis launched two ballistic missiles at Israel, but they both failed and disintegrated over Saudi Arabia. This means that the group managed to launch four or five missiles from Yemen in under 48 hours.
The latest missile attacks came exactly a week after Israeli strikes on the Houthi-controlled Yemeni capital, Sanaa, killed the Prime Minister of the group’s government, Ahmed al-Rahawi, along with eight of the ministers. The leader of the Houthis, Abdulmalik al-Houthi, vowed that the group will escalate its attacks on Israel after the assassinations.
Israel, from its side, appears to be planning to escalate even further against the Houthis. Defense Minister Israel Katz boasted on September 2 that the remainder of the Houthi leadership was running away from Sanaa.
“The remaining Houthi leadership is escaping Sanaa,” Katz posted on X. “Like all leaders of extremist Islamist terror, they look after themselves and abandon the residents,” he said, writing that Hamas’s Qatar-based leadership does the same.
“We knew how to hunt them this time, and we will know how to do so in the future as well,” the minister added.
Israel has so far launched sixteen attacks on Yemen. Meanwhile, the Houthis have launched more than 76 ballistic missiles and around 24 suicide drones at targets in Israel since the IDF resumed its offensive in Gaza last March. The group also sank two ships directly linked to Israel in the Red Sea during the same period.

judaism has existed from 2nd century bc in yemen. you can argue it has survived there for much longer than it ever did in the hebrew biblical lands or is likely to in this east european fantasy construct just a pity that most of yemens jewish population were induced to move to israel where they live second class lifes seen as inferior to ashkenazi jews and most other sephardim.
