The Houthis (Ansar Allah) said on September 11 they had driven Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces from six districts along the country’s western coast, claiming a major territorial gain in an offensive that has rapidly reshaped the battle around the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree said in a statement that the forces launched an operation on September 3 called “Allah Is Stronger in Might and Stronger in Punishment” in parts of Taiz and Hodeidah provinces.
According to Saree, the operation resulted in the capture of territory covering about 5,400 square kilometers. He said the areas had become “safe and stable,” while claiming that Houthi forces had attacked seven military formations comprising 38 brigades.
Saree added that hundreds of members of the opposing forces had been killed, wounded or captured, and that Houthi forces had also freed prisoners held for years by Saudi-backed forces along the western coast.
The spokesman also claimed that Houthis had carried out 32 air defense operations against Saudi warplanes and shot down nine drones.
The operation had continued despite what Saree described as “intensive air cover” by Saudi Arabia in support of its allied forces.
The announcement comes amid a sharp escalation along Yemen’s Red Sea coast, where Houthi forces have made a series of rapid advances in recent days. The group has seized the strategically important port city of Mocha and, on September 11, took control of Perim Island, also known as Mayun, at the entrance to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, according to reports.
The recent fighting represents a major escalation after years of relative calm following the 2022 truce brokered by the United Nations.
The Bab el-Mandeb is one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints, linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and providing a key route between Europe and Asia. The Houthi advances have raised particular concern in Saudi Arabia because they place the group closer to the maritime routes used for the kingdom’s energy exports.
The escalation has also increasingly drawn Saudi Arabia directly into the fighting. On September 8, the Houthis launched attacks on southern Saudi Arabia that officials said wounded 73 people and caused fires at key oil facilities.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman subsequently sought U.S. military assistance against the Houthis, according to Reuters. President Donald Trump declined to commit U.S. forces to direct strikes but agreed to provide intelligence and targeting support, Reuters reported.
In the latest statement, Saree said the Houthis would continue their campaign against Saudi Arabia while maintaining restrictions on the kingdom’s shipping.
“Maritime navigation is safe for all companies except Saudi ships,” he said, referring to an earlier Houthi ban on Saudi vessels.
He added that the group would continue to enforce what it called the “equation of blockade for blockade” and would respond to escalation with further escalation “until the aggression stops and the blockade is lifted” against Yemen.
The rapid Houthi advances have created a new military challenge around the Bab el-Mandeb and the Red Sea approaches for Saudi Arabia, with Yemen government forces now facing the possibility of a much broader confrontation that could drag on for months.

the 5th video down is the perfect video for the fall of the usa. it’s literally a dude in sandals and an ak47 climbing around on an abandoned maxxpro that the us spent a few million dollars on.
that maxxpro is in superb condition, no comparison to ukie junkyard. it’s big enough for the entire family. his wife will be very proud.
these are $3 million oskkosh mrap and the saudi pimps left behind over a billion dollars worth of us weapons for the ansarallah victors.
down with the saudi-wahhabi, they are fanatics
that’s ironic!
sharia law is fanatical.
there in no sharia law but was created by the wahhabi zionist scum under the british imperialist times and now promoted by alciada and zionists to divide the islamic world.
wrong-o. “muslims for “progressive” values” : “shari’a isn’t legal. it’s islamic principles to help guide people, it includes cultural practices that had to do with a specific time and place in history”
“muslim rulers wanted a way to make shari’a into law. to do that, they decided which rules needed to be laws, first. then they used interpretations of shari’a to show people that the new laws were islamic. the result was what we call islamic law.” fanatical and admittedly islamic from the beginning.
divide the islamic world? like the shia/sunni split? ibadi? oh wait. they aren’t unified.
i still came back… the saudi-backed aden government. are islamic. the houthi are islamic. islamic infighting has been ongoing since the death of muhammad.
the us is sending help to save its genocidal israel project. happy 911 !
two can play the blockade game.
djbouti. international military bases there. combined task force 150/151 are in the region. check marinetraffik. shipping is flowing through the red sea. ships are sailing right next to the captured island. it could be leveled with an air or naval strike. how long can the iranian military junta continue? supreme leader is gone. they have their first vp!
shipping is flowing through the red sea. so ? ?
houthis don’t intend to blast away at mainstream maritime traffic accessing the suez canal. saudi’s pipeline has ceased operating for the time being though. mission targets are being achieved apparently, and quickly. your simplistic assessments reminds me of my morning’s bowel movement, or you’re a bot.
read a statement from a houthi leader. they intend and have intended and disrupted international shipping. combined task force 153 is specifically for houthi and the gulf of aden. go flush your toilet elsewhere.
‘go flush your toilet elsewhere’. 🤔
programming average. programmer sub-par inbred.
💩💩💩 = 🇮🇱
don’t pull the “that’s only against the saudi’s” card. they said that in july.

“how long can the iranian military junta continue? ” longer then the trump administration, or the israeli regime under bibi can.
going to have to admit supreme leader is dead sometime. can’t pretend to be a theocracy while being a military junta for too long. 2 years left for the president of the usa. i have no idea how israeli politics work. bibi has been around since the 90’s. millions protesting outside his house. samson option is on the table. i live on the other side of the planet, or, 1/4. whatever. i don’t want armageddon, yet, thanks.
“it’s my holy-land, and if i can’t have it. i’m gonna blow it to smithereens!”
who said that? israel? yes. iran? yes. is there a door #3? please!?
their supreme leader had been buried for well over a week now, so you can assume the iranians know he’s dead. as for bibi, he’s a dead man walking, as for the jews i wouldn’t put it past once of them making sure he is dead for real. as for his flunky trump, be interesting to see how the us mid terms go. not my problem for any of them as i’m in england and am well out of it.
the “newest” one who has only given written statements. for many months while the houthi can record themselves with a camera and release the video later. bin ladin!
“i’m in england, i’m well out of it.” the pm of england is who? immigrant crisis is what? i can feign ignorance with: “sorry, stoned. wha?” everything is a commie loving, turn on our allies, nationalistic silly. (fine. i like nationalism and pride in ones laws. i envy some usa freedoms, while enjoy things they do not.) hook me up, with that west-end girl # and “just you wait till i get her home… if, when, why, what? how much have you got? -if you got it… hard or soft option?” ♪
“mauritania summons iranian ambassador, lodges protest over “actions and movements inconsistent with diplomatic norms and traditions”” even the mauritanian’s are peeved at the iranians.
who gives a monkeys what mauritania thinks it didn’t even exist before 1960, it’s just a minor third world country.
exactly! and they are airing their concern.
wait, the islamic republic of iran didn’t exist before 1960 either chris.
the saudi cowardly pimps fled leaving behind 1billion dollars worth of us masters weapons. ansarallah really kicked saudi scum sorry ass.
