Houthi Leader Reveals Details Of Ongoing Confrontation With Israel, U.S.

The leader of the Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen revealed on April 17 extensive details about the ongoing confrontation with Israel and the United States, while stressing again that the group will continue to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

In a televised speech, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said that the group had launched 78 military operations using 171 ballistic and cruise missiles, in addition to suicide drones since March 18, when Israel renewed its offensive in Gaza.

The U.S. military resumed strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen three days earlier, on March 15, on orders from President Donald Trump, who said that the large-scale operation was launched in response to the group’s renewed attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.

Al-Houthi said in his speech that these operations “demonstrate the extent of support, the effectiveness of the position, and the strength of the operations,” with a particular focus on maritime targets, where 33 operations were carried out against the U.S. aircraft carrier and its accompanying warships using 122 missiles and a drone.

He referred to the strategic results of these operations, where the “role of the aircraft carrier in the Red Sea was almost completely neutralized,” forcing the U.S. to bring in an additional aircraft carrier and resort to using stealth bombers from a base in the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia.

The Houthi leader also pointed out that the U.S. Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier has become “primarily defensive and can barely defend itself” without the ability to secure Israeli navigation, considering that bringing in a second carrier, Carl Vinson, represents “an acknowledgment of failure.”

On the other hand, Al-Houthi noted “the downing of 19 American MQ-9 drones” and “the implementation of missile and drone strikes against the occupied Jaffa, Ashkelon, and Ashdod,” in addition to the use of hypersonic missiles and “Zulfiqar” as a “birthday gift” for “the Zionist entity

He also revealed that 900 U.S. strikes hit Yemen over the past month, and said that “220 additional American raids [targeted the country] this week.

Al-Houthi stressed that “the Yemen front remains strong and inspiring” despite all American attempts, calling on the Islamic nation to act militarily or at least through political and economic boycott to support the Palestinian people.

So far, the U.S. operation against the Houthis has claimed the lives of 123 people and left some 247 others wounded. Many of the casualties were civilians.

The U.S. has so far spent over $1 billion on the operation without any clear results. Despite this, the Trump administration appears to be determined to go on with the confrontation. In fact, recent reports revealed that Washington could indirectly back a ground offensive by allied Yemeni government forces against the Houthis the country’s Red Sea coast.
