The Houthi forces have reportedly destroyed a US-made military vessel in a missile attack off the shores of the Red Sea port city of Mokha, Yemen. The incident was reported on October 1.

The HSV-2 Swift hybrid catamaran formerly belonged to the United States Navy but then was leased to the United Arab Emirates Navy. The vessel used to take part in the ongoing naval blockade of the Houthi-controlled coastal area of Yemen.

The HSV-2 Swift was a high-speed logistical ship capable of locating mines, controlling military operations and transporting troops and equipment

Houthis know how to fight! Good for them. I am amazed that the Saudis have not quit, they have taken considerable losses and have no reason to be involved in Yemen.

chris chuba

They can hire mercenaries and bomb civilian targets to avoid aircraft losses. The only thing that would really hurt would be if the Houthis got some air defenses and started plucking out those expensive F15/8’s.

Some how i don,t beliwe such claim. If that was true, the main szream media will be reporting such an ewent or millitary accomplishment.

VGA

The mainstream media, do you mean the western media? The saudis/UAE are their allies and the vessel was leased from the US Navy to the UAE. They don’t want to advertise it too much.

The saudis have confirmed picking up survivors, so this sinking did happen.

John Whitehot

well the ship in the video is pretty much scuttled. I don’t think there’s need of much more evidence,

Payne Degroin

Denial is a river in Egypt, you IDIOT, why don’t you google some video footage.

Call wolf – he will tell ya!

Actually no. This news would hurt Hillary.. and the media belongs to her with one month left before the elections.. Losing a US Ship.. being leased to the UAE or not, would be significantly bad news for her being elected.
Swift is gone, and two LPDs were fired upon in the last week. but the news of the day is Trump Hugged and Kissed Miss Utah.. 20 odd some years ago

Well done rebels – good for the underdog. Long live the rebellion against the empire.

Payne Degroin

Well done Ansarollah.

John

Was it insured?

Nicholas Battles

The Swift was not US-made. It is built by INCAT, an Australian ship builder. I served aboard the Swift from 2008 to 2010. APS/SPS.

paradigmus

Sorry – didn’t see this before I posted. Totally agree. It is a Tasmanian build catamaran

paradigmus

On a point of fact, HSV-2 was constructed in Tasmania – not in the US.

John Ennis

What was the weapon used? Any Ideas?

well the good news is it wont be able to run over whales anymore.

John Robin

You’re concerned about whales, but not about the lives lost in the attack?

Tlaka Albuernis

fuck humans, long live whales!

John Robin

OK, Moby Dick.

Nexusfast123

Aluminum structure that burns and melts. Not a good material for a warship.

Edward

This article has errors. The ship is not US built, it was built in Australia. The ship was damaged but destroyed is an overstatement. It did not belong to the US Navy, it is privately owned and leased to the US Navy for humanitarian use prior to being leased to the UAE. Note, the ship has no weapon systems or defense systems.

GregLast

Who designed it?

GregLast

Did trump own it?

GregLast

Australia, Amuttickun – what’s the difference – British……
