According to experts, the Khaibar-1 is in fact a Syrian-made unguided artillery rocket named M302. Hezbollah claim that the rocket has a range of 75km and carries a 190kg warhead. However, experts believe that the real range of the rocket is 100km.

The M302 rocket was used by Hezbollah for the first time during the 2006 war with Israel. Back then, the Lebanese armed group launched several rockets of this type at the northern Israeli cities of Haifa, Afula and Hadera, which are located 75km away from southern Lebanon.

Local observers viewed the reveal of the Khaibar-1 rocket as clear message to Israel indicating that the cooperation between Hezbollah and the Damascus government is still strong. Since the outbreak of the Syrian war in 2011 senior Israeli officials, including the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, vowed to stop Syria from suppling Hezbollah with such advance weapons.

They must have come a long way since then.

FlorianGeyer

Certainly, I agree.
Accurate enough to hit Bibi’s wallet :)

John Brown

Accurate enough to hit an Israeli military air strip or hangar, a nuclear power plant, an oil refinery, any electric power station, Israeli commercial airports, chemical plants etc. which are very large targets. Especially easy to hit when aim can be corrected with on site spotters giving direction and course corrections.

FlorianGeyer

Ooooh YES :) And the Knesset .

peacelover

Now they r actually stronger than IDF. Only one problem is air superiority. They need air defenses desperately. Anyhow Israel will think 100 times before aggression.

Icarus Tanović

These rockets, it may sound funny were equipped with some crude radars, something like proximity fuse and fired on Israeli airplanes. Imagine warning sound incomin missile in cockpit of f16.

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

DING DING DING AHHHHHHHHHHHHH *BOOM* LOL

John Brown

They have enough air defenses, USSA man pads from Syria they captured from Israeli ISIS and AL-CIA-DA etc., along with lots of Iranian copies of Russian man pads, to prevent low leveI Israeli bombing, which is the most accurate, unless the Israeli air force who are cowards, want to take significant losses maybe 20% of their air force and pilots, doing close air support bombing of Hezbollah. The Talaban did not have much but they made the Soviets pay.

FlorianGeyer

I would think that Hezbollah has greatly improved missile systems now that can be fired in numbers that will overwhelm any of Israel’s missile defences :)

AJ

I read that missile defences can be quickly overcome with swarms of cheap drones that make the defender use up expensive missiles before launching more accurate rockets

FlorianGeyer

This is what Russia must be guarding against in Syria I would think AJ.

Jesus

Yea, you would be using expensive rockets or deal with the swarm if you did not have point defenses, like Pantsir or Tor, and EW capabilities and laser illumination to neutralize more advanced drones that try to impersonate cruise missiles or slow moving aircraft.

John Brown

Missile attacking is always much, much, much, cheaper and easier then missile defending.
Fire lots of the cheap stuff first and then launch the really big accurate but still much cheaper then defending missiles stuff, along with the really cheap stuff like fighter escorts were for bombers. Good luck to Israel to figure out which of the many missiles is which in the short time before they hit their targets. Also Hezbollah has over 120 k plus missiles and Israel does not even have 500 interceptor missiles.

Rob

US and Israel don’t like that any Muslim country develop military industry and set free from US slavery but some Muslim leaders are so fool that they still ally of US and UK.

They could join the club of countries that free from US influence like Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan etc. If Pakistan can make Nuclear weapons then any country can make it. Freedom is better than slavery.

Icarus Tanović

Some of them lost some of warhead weight, but get more range. And some were just elongated and same effect.
Some of them carried Napalm with 50kg of tnt charge. So 140 kg of Napalm.

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

inshallah lol

Vince Dhimos

Well maybe if Israel stops acquiring arms witha range that enables them to reach far into Syria…. do ya think?

Attrition47

“Ooh-aah Hezbollah, sing ooh-aah Hezbollah”

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

hahahha i simply love it :))

Jesus

Hezbollah rocket arsenal has increased in numbers and capabilities, it is likely that Iran provided them with some short range ballistic missiles, iron dome can be easily overwhelmed with artilery and mortar fire followed by a significant swarm of various rockets.

Manuel Flores Escobar

5 of them were launched during last largest Israeli attack vs Syria…beside 40 grads 122mm and 10 uragan 220mm…of course Israel dont show photos of aftermath for security reasons( and use to say that missile hit remore areas)…but surely caused damage in military areas.

… And that’s why Israelis told Saudis to threaten the lives of Sa’ad Hariri’s children (hostages in Riyadh) and order him to say he won’t form new government unless the ties between Lebanon and Syria are completely severed, and he did it to the letter, just like his resignation.

peacelover

Then the president does not have any solutions?

Icarus Tanović

Nasrallah doesn’t have nothing to do with that, anyways…

Garga

Based on the Lebanese constitution, he can’t do much. At the moment he tries to avoid alienating Hariri and hopes to somehow convince him to do his job.

I don’t like Harir at all but frankly I can’t imagine how difficult it is that one’s family be hostages with Saudis and let’s not forget that at the moment unlike before, Saudis don’t think resignation is an option for Hariri. By keeping that wound open (prevention of forming a government) they want to inflict maximum pain into Lebanon and his resignation paves way for a solution.

ελευθεριος βενιζελος

so?? an unguided missile who can do what?? like a grad rocket with an extended range…

42 degrees south

Unguided V1 and V2’s launched from France in WW2 by the Germans were able to hit London, do you think the above missiles, which Hezbollah have thousands, wouldnt cause any serious damage to a town or city within their range of fire? Theyre also dangerous because of the fact that they are unguided, they can not be jammed by radar.

ελευθεριος βενιζελος

i do not believe that they can do real damage… i the open field against soldiers yes but the explosives that it carries can do much…

russ

Every missile Hezbollah fires should go towards chemical plants.

ελευθεριος βενιζελος

if it can penetrate the structure…

Jim Prendergast

Guided missiles of this range could defend the territorial integrity of Lebanon’s off-shore resources.

Brad Isherwood

Rumor that Hezbollah recieved a complete tracked BUK M2E from Syria.
They also operated Iranian Jammers and Iranian Counter fire Battery Radar.

Hezbollah fully builds several Iranian ballistic missiles from scratch. ..
They have techno ability to create
Chinese/Iranian anti ship missiles. ..
Hezbollah also gets Iranian ATGM and some of the captured from Syrian war.
IDF will… Feel it !….For sure.

Let’s be candid about things….
Putin says nothing. …about IAF violate Lebanon airspace.
Lebanons got a Bagel up their ass and shekels. ….they say nothing.

Hezbollah. ..Ya….they deserve to have BUK M2E and maybe Iran let’s them build Bavar 373 so that Hezbollah has a S 300 mobile system.

Sinbad2

I imagine they are displaying these rockets, because now they have new better rockets.
And you do need good armaments when your neighbor is a fascist state, and its leader thinks he is the Jewish Adolf Hitler.

Israel is pissed it can’t nuke the Hezb cuz with only 85 miles between tel aviv (jew global terrorism center) and south Lebanon (Hezb global resistance center), the wind just might blow right back into the jews’ faces. This renders the jew nuke obsolete as regards the Hezb/Lebanon.

russ

Hezbollah almost has a nuke. All they need to do is send every missile they have into Israeli chemical plants and petrochemical plants. This would work against Israel almost as much as a nuke would.

Bob

Israel subject to double bind on that front – it would be politically impossible to legally and morally justify nuking the state of Lebanon to hit a technically non-state group within it, and practically, even modern tactical nukes are a non starter against south Lebanon – it would still plume and radioactively dust all of northern Israel’s agriculture and permeate their own drinking water table.

Bob

Due to Israel’s past success in penetrating numerous Arab state agencies, Hezbollah has hardcore communications and information security protocols – so when they openly reveal this sort of information about their military capabilities there is always a premeditated reasoning behind it.
