On March 3, Hezbollah launched several attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from its heartland, southern Lebanon.
In two separate statements, Hezbollah said its fighters fired a Burkan heavy improvised rocket at the Jal al-Alam site and shelled the site of al-Samaqa with a salvo of rockets. In a third statement, the group announced that it had destroyed a surveillance system of the IDF at the al-Matla site using “suitable weapons”.
A gathering of Israeli troops was also targeted with “suitable weapons” near the settlement of al-Wazzani, according to another statement by Hezbollah. The group said that the IDF fired smoke shells and brought in helicopters to evacuate the dead and wounded after the attack.
Separately, the IDF said that it had fired an interceptor missile at a “suspicious aerial target” that entered Israeli airspace from Lebanon. Sirens had sounded in the settlements of Gadot, Yesod Hama’ala, Sde Eliezer, Amuka, Hulata, Mishmar HaYarden and Ayelet HaShahar in the Upper Galilee.
The IDF didn’t announce any strikes on southern Lebanon during the day. However, Lebanese media said that Israeli artillery strikes hit the outskirts of the town of Khiam and other areas. No casualties were reported.

Hezbollah and its allies have been launching attacks from southern Lebanon against the IDF since the outbreak of the war in Gaza.
As of March 3, the clashes on the border have resulted in six civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 300 people have been killed, including 216 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 40 civilians.
