The Gelilot base near the central Israeli city of Tel Aviv, which hosts the Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 8200, was hit during Hezbollah’s recent large-scale attack, Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen TV, reported on August 29, citing sources based in Israel.

Hezbollah said that the attack, which took place on August 25, was “an initial response” to the killing of its top commander Fuad Shukr late last July.

The first phase of the attack saw the group firing more than 340 rockets at 11 bases in northern Israel and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. Later, some 20 suicide drones were launched at Gelilot base and a key air defense base located near the settlement of Ein Shemer.

Al-Mayadeen sources said that at least six drones succeeded in penetrating Israeli air defenses, adding that it has been undeniably confirmed that the drones hit their targets inside the Glilot base with “high accuracy,” prompting “Israel” to impose a tight security cordon around the base, extending several kilometers deep.

This cordon remained in place for several hours, restricting access for both civilian and military personnel, the sources indicated.

They added that the attack was “a complete success beyond any doubt despite the complete Israeli security, military, and media blackout.”

At the time of the attack, the Israeli military claimed that, in preemptive strikes, it struck “thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers” by some 100 fighter jets. However, the group Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech following the attack that the Israeli account of events was “full of lies,” reflecting the “inherent weakness” of Israel.

The attack was one of the largest launched by Hezbollah since clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border broke out on the backdrop of the Israeli war on the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.

While tensions between the two foes have decreased since the attack, clashes continue on the border with no end in sight. So far, more than 40 have been killed in Israel and territories occupied by the country. On the Lebanese side, the death toll has exceeded 800.

like i’ve said before, there is no need to target the leaders and provoke tit for tat escalation. just start wacking the fighter jet pilots to cripple their air power.
