On January 24, Hezbollah announced that it had attacked three sites of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) near the border with Lebanon in support of the Palestinian people and “resistance” in Gaza.

In three separate statements, the group said its fighters attacked the Bayad Blida site with “suitable weapons,” and fired rockets at the sites of Sammaqa and Birkat Risha. Rocket sirens sounded in northern Israel. However, there were no reports of interceptions or losses.

The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted in its statements.

In response to the attacks, the IDF said that it carried out a wave of strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. The targets hit by fighter jets and artillery shelling in the town of Yaroun included military buildings and other infrastructure used by the group, according to the IDF.

Lebanese media confirmed that several Israeli strikes hit Yaroun and its outskirts. However, there were no reports of casualties.

Hezbollah and its allies began launching attacks against the IDF from southern Lebanon right after the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza more than three months ago.

As of January 24, the clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border have resulted in six civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 200 have been killed. The toll includes 156 Hezbollah fighters, 14 of whom were killed in Syria, 28 Palestinians, a Lebanese soldier, and at least 24 civilians.
