On March 23, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched a new large-scale attack against the Syrian Liberation Front (SLF) in the western Aleppo countryside capturing the village of Blinta, according to the HTS-linked news agency Iba’a.
Iba’a said that HTS fighters had captured several mortar cannons from the SLF and destroyed a vehicle armed with a 23mm gun.
Meanwhile, the SLF-linked news agency Midad Press reported that SLF fighters had repelled an attack by HTS on their positions in the village of Mklbis near Blinta. SLF fighters reportedly destroyed a BMP-1 armored vehicle and killed several HTS fighters.
In response to the HTS attack in western Aleppo, the SLF launched an attack on HTS positions in the village of Jarada in southern Idlib. However, HTS fighters repelled the attack killing and injuring several members of the SLF, according to Iba’a.
The clashes between the two forces will likely intensify in the upcoming days, as HTS is planning to capture the strategic town of al-Atarib in western Aleppo from the SLF, according to Syrian opposition sources.
